my (almost) sister

School started as noted by my infrequent posting. Despite my negligence in writing, I would like to think that each day I work closer to both finishing my masters and moving forward with the med school process. That's important progress on two goals.

On another front, I had the wonderful opportunity last weekend to attend a Rosh Hasannah dinner at Erica's house last weekend. The food was wonderful. Compliments to the chef and her helpers! We had some traditional food such as challah and matza ball soup matched with some unique additions such as margaritas.

Interestingly, Erica and I kind of look alike especially if we are both wearing our glasses. This often leads to us being asked if we are sisters. This evening was no exception. When I denied familial relationship, I was amused by the next question: "Well, are you Jewish?"

I giggled a little and said, "No."

"Well, you look and speak like you're Jewish," my questioner retorted.

"Oh, well, I'll take that as a compliment."

Maybe my intention of experiencing other religions and cultures is well on its way!

Anyway, my favorite part of the nights was one of the blessings. I did not catch the Hebrew, but in translation, it meant, "May G-d bring you a year that is as sweet as apples with honey."

Beautiful.
